Global Institute of Sport (GIS) and Inter Miami CF launched GIS’ first North American campus at DRV PNK Stadium this week, with.

The exclusive event was attended by a host of dignitaries and industry leaders, including Spencer Hidge, Founder of Premier Sports Network; Jason Roberts, ex-Premier League footballer and Director of Development at CONCACAF, Mayor of Fort Lauderdale Dean Trantalis and representatives from the MLS, Chicago Fire, Miami Dolphins, New York Red BullsToronto FC, Everton FC, Seattle Sounders and more.

Brendan Flood, Founding Owner of Orlando City SC and GIS Chairman, said: “I am delighted that the first day of the launch of GIS Inter Miami was such a success. The event was a great chance for GIS students to embark upon their degree programmes, and for us all to reflect on this monumental partnership and what we have achieved.”

Jorge Mas, Managing Owner of Inter Miami, added: “This is going to make a difference in the lives of young men and young women who want to get involved in the management of sports, whatever area that might be. All of the different opportunities are going to be provided right here from Fort Lauderdale - for us it’s an honour to be able to make a difference.”

GIS’ partnership with Inter Miami will facilitate the delivery of the Elite Player Care in Soccer qualification which has been designed to support sports industry professionals to enhance their practice with a multidisciplinary understanding of the subject.

The program has been developed to allow delegates to establish a theoretical and practical understanding of player care in soccer, by engaging with elements of behavioural science, psychology, psychiatry, and social sciences, with the long-term goal of applying this knowledge across a variety of roles and contexts.

During their studies, delegates will be exposed to the latest research in the area, as well as a series of real-world scenarios and case studies, developed in conjunction with industry partners.

The course has been designed to support a rage of roles across elite soccer including player care/ liaison officers, team operations managers and coaches.
